Backyard PoemThe guarding tree and yellow lemons Blooming boganvilliers Lime trees and passionfruit vine Everything’s chlorophyll coloured
But that’s only half The rest is brick With a picnic table set out Surrounded by skyscraping bushes
But when the rats invade and the drought comes And the rain doesn’t trickle The bricks will survive The plants won’t The fall relives
